tips for proposals submitted to nsf via grants.gov 

• start early!!
• Use Grants.gov only if it is required; otherwise use FastLane;
• PI must be a registered FastLane user;
• Read the Grants.gov Application Guide;
• File attachments must be in pdf--for best results, convert your files to pdf using the converter within FastLane;
• Check that the institutional names are used;
• PI/Co-PI name must be typed the same throughout the application;
• Follow any special instructions in the funding opportunity announcement;
• use the checklist!!
• Allow extra time for editing

NSF does not accept applications through Grants.gov for:

• Letters of Intent
• Preliminary Proposals
• Changed/Corrected Applications
• Continuations
• Supplemental Funding Requests
