Alternate instructions for
mac users |
|
This does not follow the instructions
supplied by Grants.gov BUT it works relatively well.
To Prepare Grants.gov Application Packages, etc., on Macs
Get a copy of Microsoft Virtual PC (VPC is free through
TTU)
Get familiar with the program and how to launch it from
MacOS X.
Once you are comfortable using it, go into VPC and
download PureEdge from Grants.gov, following the
instructions for Windows OS. You will get a program called
ICS Viewer 6.0.2.
Interfacing between VPC and Mac OS
In Mac OS follow the directions to download Citrix to
view and work in Grants.gov.
Once you have launched Citrix, put the Grants.gov
address in the URL. This will allow you to browse, search,
download and save the application packages.
Once you have found the application package you want to
download, it is important to save it on the Z (network)
drive. This is the drive that interfaces between VPC and
Mac OS.
Saving Downloads
Before saving the application package from Grants.gov,
it is suggested that you set up a VPC folder in your
documents folder in MacOS X. This is the folder that will
contain the information to be accessed between platforms.
When saving the application, save it to the Z drive (or
network drive) in VPC documents folder.
Accessing your Download
Once in VPC you will need to copy (or drag and drop)
the file onto the VPC desktop.
At this point, launch ICS Viewer and use it to open and
work in the .xfd files from Grants.gov.
Any proposal work can be done in MacOS because all you
need to do is save the file to the VPC folder and access
it for uploading.
All the forms may be filled out using ICS Viewer in VPC
mode.
The
pureedgemacsupport.pdf is a very helpful guide–especially
the FAQ section. This can be downloaded directly onto the Mac
from Grants.gov.
